Just five days after winning Gold at the SGFI District Weightlifting Championship, Samya Panchal was back on the platform — this time at the Gujarat State Weightlifting Championship in Surat, and she walked away with a Silver medal.
The Competition
Organised by the Surat Weightlifting Club under the Gujarat State Weightlifting Association, the two-day championship (22–23 August 2026) brought together the state's best young lifters across the Youth and Junior categories. Samya, competing in the Sub Junior category, opened with a 31kg Snatch before locking out a 47kg Clean & Jerk — a 78kg total that secured her the Silver medal.
From District Gold to State Silver
The Silver comes on the back of Samya's Gold medal at the SGFI District Weightlifting Championship just five days earlier — the result that qualified her for state-level selection. Backing up a District Gold with a State Silver inside a single week is no small feat, especially while Samya continues to train for powerlifting in parallel.
